THE SURF DIRECTORY INDONESIA - INTRODUCTION
Finding land accommodation / surf charter boats that suit the needs and budgets of surfers is the main aim of this directory but we also have other information pertaining to each surf location i.e a general overview of the surf region with accompanying maps, travel, things to do if you’re surfed out, and suggestions to give back to the local community. Apologies if some of these categories is still being compiled when you read this. Compiling the surf directory Indonesia is an extremely time-consuming endeavour as we had liaise with accommodation and charter boat owners to confirm their listing details we released each location as it was completed it instead of waiting till the whole directory was finalised.
The waves throughout Indo are comprehensively covered on the web so instead of our our take we have included links to what we regard as the better write-ups of the waves of the region you are interested in.
Organisational wise, the directory is divided into the main surf regions throughout Indonesia that are frequented by surfers as per the following:
North Sumatra
Mentawai islands
South Sumatra
Java
Lombok
Sumbawa
Sumba
Roti
Some surf locations (North Aceh for one) has not been included at this time as nobody that is associated with the directory have ever surfed there. Hopefully that surf region and other omissions will be rectified in the not too distant future.
We may in the future but at this time we have not included Bali in the directory. (If you're heading to Bali and surfing is your main priority while in Indonesia we have to ask - why Bali? There are so many better options throughout Indonesia irrespective of your surfing ability, although in general, Indonesia does favour experienced surfers.
Indonesia is the favourite surf destination for our contributors but none of us reside in Indo permanently so we are fully aware that details supplied in the directory may become out of date for some locations.
If you find any incorrect information, omissions, resorts, surf camps or charter boats that we have listed that you consider crap or we haven’t listed a resort, surf camp or charter boat that you think should be listed please let us know.
The more accurate the directory is, the more beneficial it will be for you as well as your fellow surfers travelling through Indonesia.
